Organic Calendula (Calendula officinalis) is native to Mediterranean countries and UK and has long been a multi purpose and beautiful flower delight. Bright yellow and orange flowers can be consumed in a salad, applied topically as a poultice or brewed into a tea. Caffeine free.
It’s antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-viral anti-oxidant and great for relieving muscle spasms and fatigue, acne – dark spots and scars and restore elasticity, helps congested lymph nodes, helps fight cancer duodenal ulcers, leg and stomach ulcers, chronic colitis, reduces fever, gastritis, sore throat and mouth, starts menstrual periods and lessens menstrual cramps, haemorrhoids, protect against heart disease, heartburn, irritable bowel syndrome and wound healing – relieves nappy rash and soothes eczema. Can be effective in vaginal creams and for vaginal candidiasis.
Bacterial Vaginitis for 5 days and nights douche with lukewarm water and 30 drops calendula mother tincture to fight against the bacteria and fungi.
Soothes internal mucous membranes as a tea using one tablespoon of fresh flowers or two teaspoons of dried flower to a cup of water – bring to boil and allow to steep for 10 minutes. In large volumes it can lower blood pressure.
Calendula infused skin and hair products can help heal the skin and scalp and help strengthen the hair follicles.
It’s also been traditionally used as a fantastic yellow dye pigment. Can lighten or highlight hair.
CAUTION: Calendula is generally safe to use but if you are allergic to Asteraceae/Compositae family, daisies, marigold, ragweed avoid it. Use with caution or avoid if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as it may stimulate menstruation and not enough is know to be sure it is safe. May cause or promote uterine contractions. Avoid if using any sedative Rx medications as it may cause breathing problems by slowing the breathe and too much sleepiness as it is sedative. If in doubt please check with your doctor or specialist.
